Sierra Leone’s Mission in Washington D.C. Host U.S. Congressman Gregory Meeks, Chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee

Washington D.C. (TN Tribune)–The Embassy of Sierra Leone in Washington D.C. this week hosted U.S Congressman Gregory Meeks, a Democratic Member of the House of Representatives from Queens, New York, who recently became Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. The invitation for the evening was made by Ambassador Sidique Abou- Bakarr Wai of Sierra Leone the host.

Also invited were Ambassador Seydou Kabore of Burkina Faso, Ambassador Kerfalla Yansene of Guinea, Ambassador Frederic Eden Hegbe of Togo, Ambassador Barfour Adjei Barwuah of Ghana, Ambassador George Patten of Liberia, Ambassador Mahmadou Nimaga of Mali and Ambassador Mathilde Mukantabana of Rwanda. Former NYC Commissioner Patricia Gatling, Rev. Dr. Abdul K. Sesay, Dr. Fouad Sheriff, Rakie Macarthy, Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Sierra Leone were among the other dignitaries present.

His interview reminded viewers that the Year of Return was a way to bridge the distance between Ghanaian’s all over the world and their original or inherited home country, Ghana. Folding them back into the resurgence of efforts to keep Ghana economically advancing both supported the connectedness of Ghanaians living as part of the African Diaspora and the “Ghana Beyond Aid” strategy.

Ghana’s Embassy in the USA to resume consular services

A statement signed by Kofi Tonto, Head of Information and Public Services, Embassy of Ghana in Washington, said to enforce Covid-19 safety protocols, the Embassy would no longer offer in-person visa services.

Nigerian Missions pledge to protect Nigerians in U.S.

The Nigerian Missions in the U.S. say promoting and protecting Nigerians’ legitimate interests and that of Nigeria remains the missions’ priority.

The missions gave the assurance in New York during a collaborative meeting between the Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, Mr Benaoyagha and the new Nigerian Consul-General in Atlanta, Mrs Aishatu Musa.
