Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo | President-Elect Joe Biden names Nigerian-American as Deputy Treasury Secretary

President-elect Joe Biden named key members of his economic team on Monday, and among them is Nigerian-born Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo who was announced as Deputy Treasury Secretary. Janet Yellen  was nominated as treasury secretary along with three other women in top roles on a diverse team that will help him navigate the nation’s punishing fiscal headwinds in hopes of building an economic recovery

Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo is president of the Obama Foundation in Chicago If confirmed, he would be the first Black deputy Treasury Secretary. Adeyemo served on the National Economic Council of the Obama administration and last fall was named as the first president of the Obama Foundation.

Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo, is a Nigerian-born attorney and former senior international economic adviser during the Obama administration.

Adewale Adeyemo is currently the President of the Obama Foundation.

He is 39 years old.
