Kenyan-born Stanford University student found dead at her university residence

Norah Chelagat Borus, a Kenyan-born computer science student at Stanford University has been found dead at her residence at the university under unclear circumstances.

Confirming the sad news, family spokesperson Joseph Maswan disclosed Chelagat’s family members were already in America to find out under what circumstances the young and brilliant lady died.

“The family has received the shocking news. Her father and other family members have travelled to the US to establish the cause of her death,” Maswan said as quoted by Daily Nation on Sunday, June 16.

Chelagat’s demise was further confirmed by Stanford University’s president Marc Tessier-Lavigne and also university’s Vice Provost for Student Affairs Susie Brubaker-Cole who did not divulge details regarding the tragedy.

The deceased was a student of Precious Blood Riruta in Nairobi Kenya where she sat for her KCSE in 2013 and emerged top in her school, top in the county, second best female student in the country and fourth best candidate nationally with 86.977 points.

The deceased was a Computer Science student at Stanford University, one of the world’s leading teaching and research institutions.

American authorities have launched investigations into Chelagat’s death even as the institution in a statement assured the rest of the students of their safety.
