Ugandan banks, real estate dealers, designers and entrepreneurs are gearing up for this year’s Uganda festival and expo in New York.
The annual event, which is organised by Ugandans in North America Association Causes (UNAA- Causes) provides a platform to market Ugandan brands in North America through their economic empowerment and entrepreneurship program.
The function, also dubbed Summer’s ultimate event is scheduled to take place between August 29 and September 02, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt in New York, USA.
According to UNAA Causes CEO, David Muwanga the Uganda festival and expo is offering investment opportunities in exports to North America, a coffee retail project in North America, agro products, Information technology, real estate, and fashion.
“The Summer’s ultimate event is the only Uganda diaspora program with a Business club and hosts a networking dinner known as the Corporate dinner gala,” Muwanga said.
Muwanga encouraged people in the diaspora to participate noting that those who commit early in an investment opportunity, always reap the biggest rewards.
“Our fashion weekend program reaches five African countries including Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Tanzania,” he said adding that the Fashion Weekend show is a business program set up purposely to elevate Uganda’s fashion industry in the diaspora.
Muwanga noted that they will also hold interactive business sessions in banking and real estate in partnership with Equity Bank, Housing Finance Bank, and Post Bank. Other partners include Kenya Airways, Comfort homes, Universal M. Enterprises, and Buildnet KPG.
Peace Kabunga, Head Mortgage & Development Finance at Housing Finance Bank said it is possible for all Ugandans living and working in the diaspora to invest in real estate back home with no hustle.
“As Housing Finance Bank, we have continuously played a catalytic role, where efforts have been made to bring together all major stakeholders in the housing value-chain, from developers, financers, property managers, hardware gurus, and building material experts, to the customers,” she said.
Muwanga says entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to exhibit their products and to network with their clients or potential clients.
As part of the festival, participants will enjoy dinner galas, a dinner cruise, and a fashion show, among others.
There will also be musical performances featuring Diamond Platnumz, Afrigo band, Denmark based songbird Joanita Lubega Zacharissen and her band, and Joseph Sax – Myko Ouma and friends band.
Popular Ugandan artistes including David Lutalo, Cindy, Zanie Brown, Vinka, Fik Fameica, Spice Diana, Chosen Becky, Chris Evans, Levixone, Sasha and Mina Iza will also feature at the event.
