After surviving a vicious smear campaign full of personal attacks and innuendos, Nigerian -born Chika Anyiam was elected overwhelmingly by the electorate in Dallas. Texas. She joins the growing list of African-born jurist in America.

Chika Anyiam is a Democratic judge-elect for the Dallas County Criminal District Court Texas No. 7 in Texas. Anyiam won the general election on November 6, 2018, after advancing from the primary on March 6, 2018.

She defeated her republican opponent Stephanie Fargo  by  428,971 to 260,358 votes thus garnering 62.2 percent of the total votes cast.

Anyiam was a 2016 candidate for the Dallas County Criminal Court in Texas.  Anyiam lost in a primary runoff election on May 24, 2016.
