Two African economist have made the list of of The 100 Most Influential Economists Online (2020). Zambian-born Dambisa Moyo was recognised as a global thought leader while Kenyan economist David Ndii, a well known columnist for the Telegraph also made the list.
The award is for prominent economists who are active online. According to Richtopia, who compiled the list “the list is of people who influence through the web, with a click of a button, even if it means Tweeting at 2 am.”

The statement went on to say “There are thousands of credible economists who did not make this list because to qualify; economists must have a consistent social media presence.”
Dambisa Moyo
Dr. Dambisa Moyo is an economist who has challenged ideological frameworks on which the world economy stands and raised alarm that the world is tethering on the edge of chaos. She is the author of four New York Times bestselling books and is a board member of several companies.

Dambisa Moyo describes herself as a Global Economist, Author, Investor in the future and Marathon Runner on her twitter handle. In 2009, she was named to the list of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
Dambisa is a key participant in the world’s most prestigious economic conferences such as Bilderberg, Davos and the annual U.S. Federal Reserve Jackson Hole conference.

David Ndii
According to Wikipeidia, Kenyan-born David Ndii is an economist, columnist and author. The Telegraph has described him as “one of Africa’s best known economists and an outspoken anti-corruption crusader”.
He was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University and for several years, he was chief strategist of the National Super Alliance.
In recent years he has been even an open critic of the economic policy of the Kenyan Government, writing several open letters to the government and directly attacking him directly on Twitter. This among other things, led to him being barred from accessing the Technical University of Mombasa for “security reasons”.
