Senegalese-American Akon will be unveiling the first look inside Akon City in the coming months

Akon has teased just what we can expect from his new African city and promises it’ll look just like the fictional nation of Wakanda from Black Panther. The Locked Up rapper has spent the past seven years building a brand new city in his native country of Senegal and recently finalised papers to officially own the area.
After months of anticipation, Akon has shared new details about Akon City and creates a visual of what it will look like while fans wait for the actual visual.
‘We got the land, we got all the licenses now. I’ve been working on this for about seven years trying to get the paces going and we finally secured the land,’ Akon told TMZ.
‘That was the hardest part, securing the land because we have to also be regulated and considered a city.’ Life in Akon City sounds like it’ll be an absolute breeze with the 46-year-old hoping to make it free of all the drawbacks that can come with visiting or setting up companies in other countries.
The American rapper explained: ‘Because there’s already a city within a city and I’m trying to create an area where I can work out my partnership with the government to where it’s a free zone where you don’t have to pay no taxes and all the incentives coming there like you were going to the Maldives, Mauritius and Bahamas.
‘I want businesses to be able to come and make it a headquarters for the whole of Africa.’ Akon City promises to become one of the most advanced cities in Africa and it seems the rapper was particularly inspired by a certain Marvel movie.
‘It’s going to be futuristic, I want all the latest and future technologies, I don’t want nothing from the old days,’ he teased.
Erm, we fully expect the city to be protected by vibranium. From music to building cities – is there anything Akon can’t do? Akon continued: ‘I want it all to be based on tomorrow’s technology and how it’s going to be built and resources taken from Africa.
‘I’m already in Africa so we can build everything from Africa without having to use resources outside.
‘In West Africa, we don’t have such wildlife where you can do those safaris and such, that’s more east African and central like Congo. We have more [forestry] and beaches – it’s more water.’
Akon also revealed that he’ll be unveiling a 3D rendered version of the city in a YouTube video soon.
After signing on the dotted line last month, Akon proudly told his Instagram followers: ‘Just finalised the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.’
Akon City is expected to have its own airport and will use the Akoin cryptocurrency.
