The UN has appointed the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, as a member of the new class of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocates.
Sanusi is one of the six new members of the group, which is co-chaired by President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana and the Prime Minister of Norway, Ms Erna Solberg.

It was a celebration fit for a king at one Pennsylvania college.
Not only is Dr. Daniel Wubah a king in Ghana, he has now been named the president of Millersville University, according to WPMT.

Cheikh Oumar Seydi, former Regional Director of the sub-Sahara Africa office of the International Finance Corporation has been announced as the Africa Director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
Seydi, who hails from Senegal, will now be in charge of the foundation’s work as it seeks to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in many African countries.

Diallo Sumbry, the founder of the Washington D.C. based The Adinkra Group, an African Cultural Edutainment Resource, and Consulting Company, and organizer of the Back2Africa Festival and Tour has been appointed as Ghana’s first African-American Tourism Ambassador by the Ghana Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Mr. Sumbry will join Ghana Tourism Ambassadors including Afrobeats Star Fuse ODG, Ghanaian Rap Star, Sarkodie, Ghanaian British Singing Sensations, Reggie N Bollie, and Singer Wiyaala to transform and promote tourism as a leading sector of the economy in Ghana.

A Ghanaian Professor, Wisdom Tettey, has been installed as the Vice President and Principal of the University of Toronto-Scarborough in the largest city of Canada.
He is the first Black person to head the campus.
His installation took place at the Scarborough campus of the University of Toronto amidst academic pageantry with the blasting of Ghanaian traditional song in the background.
The ceremony was well attended by dignitaries and academia including the Vice Chancellor, academic staff, students and family members/representatives from the Toronto Ghanaian community.

Okoloko has worked for the past 13 years in the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where he is a deputy prosecuting attorney working on homicide, sexual assault, child abuse and elder abuse cases. He has also worked in the office’s violent crime, property crime and District Court units, and he represents the office on the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, which investigates incidents of suspected excessive force by police officers.
