US-Based Kenyan Nuclear Medicine Expert Advises Kenya Gov’t on How to Deal with Cancer Menace

US-based Kenyan Nuclear Medicine expert John Gitau Wairimu has advised the Kenyan government on how to address the cancer menace in the country.

Gitau, who made history by being among the first four students in the United States to graduate with a Master’s degree in Nuclear Medicine in 2017, said the government’s main focus should be to diagnose cancer in the early stages.

400 Nigerian physicians and dentists meet in Kelowna, Canada

Canada is a melting pot of people from all over the world and that will be on full display in Kelowna this weekend. The Canadian Association of Nigerian Physicians and Dentists (CANPAD) has chosen the Okanagan as the spot for its 18th annual general meeting of members.

That means more than 400 physicians and dentists originally from Nigeria, along with their families and a number of Nigerian dignitaries, will be in town for the four-day event.

Vancouver: Ghanaian Vice President Bawumia receives rousing welcome

It was homecoming of sorts for Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawimia as he arrived at the Bear Creek Park in Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver for this year’s GhanaFest July 20.

A graduate of Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University, Dr. Bawumia was met by an enthusiastic crowd of nearly 2,000, among them many old friends.

Close to the shores of Langma Beach in Ghana, West Africa, Carol Muhammad enjoys her six bedroom house with her husband, Robert Muhammad. The couple made the move from Phoenix, Ariz., to Ghana in May, after Robert Muhammad retired. 

The two haven’t looked back.

Big Tent hosts African leaders’ pre-conference gathering

Leaders from 11 African countries now serving the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 22 states and 20 presbyteries across the United States gathered for the African Leaders Pre-Conference, sponsored by the Racial Equity & Women’s Intercultural Ministries at Big Tent 2019.

Those attending the African pre-conference at Big Tent in Baltimore joined in a Spirit-filled worship service Tuesday.

Pelosi, Congressional Delegation honor Ghana’s Rich Tradition in Ceremony with Paramount Chiefs, visit Historic Slave Sites to mark ‘The Year of Return’

Speaker Pelosi and Members of the Congressional Black Caucus traveled to Ghana’s Central Region to meet with tribal Chiefs and visit the slave dungeons at Elmina and Cape Coast Castles and the “Door of No Return” to observe “The Year of Return.” The delegation laid wreaths at both dungeons in remembrance of the millions who lost their lives and freedom in the transatlantic slave trade.
