Ethiopian Cultural Garden dedication in Cleveland

In the 103-year history of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens, there had never been a garden representing an African nation.

That changes Saturday when the Ethiopian Cultural Garden is officially dedicated in a ceremony starting at 1 p.m. One of the garden’s defining features is a five-paneled ceramic mural with each panel representing a period of Ethiopian history.

The dedication is a precursor to the One World Day festival, taking place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event celebrates the many cultures and ethnicities that make up the Greater Cleveland community with a Parade of Flags, naturalization ceremony, cultural performances, live entertainment, kids activities and a wide selection of ethnic foods.

The events, happening around MLK Dr. & East Blvd., are free.
