Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Rania Al-Mashat arrive United States early to participate in a celebration organised by the Egyptian embassy in Washington on the occasion of the 23 July Revolution.
Al-Mashat will also take up an official invitation to visit the headquarters of the National Geographic.
The minister is scheduled to deliver a speech during the ceremony at the embassy, which will be attended by 1,000 Egyptians and Americans in addition to representatives of international media.
During her visit, Al-Mashat will also hold several meetings with officials from a number of international organisations in addition to conducting media interviews.
Prior to her departure, Al-Mashat stressed the importance of the visit given that the American market “came in the 10th ranking among the most tourist-exporting markets to Egypt in 2018, with an increase of 27 percent compared to 2017.”
The visit also comes, according to a statement issued by the ministry, as a result of her keenness to utilise this increase to achieve more tourist flows, especially as the American tourist is among the high-spending segments.
Al-Mashat was also invited to visit ‘The Queens of Egypt’ exhibition, which is organised by National Geographic in cooperation with the Egyptian Museum in Italy’s Turin, the Montreal Museum of Antiquities in Canada, and the Egyptian embassy in Washington to promote Egyptian tourism and culture in the United States.
The minister pointed to the importance of such events to promote Egypt abroad, especially as the timing of the visit comes in the middle of the US celebrations of Independence Day and Egypt’s celebrations of the 23 July Revolution.
